Srinagar, May 30: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Dr Najma Heptullah today said the development of Jammu and Kashmir is high on the agenda of the Government of India and the Centre wants equitable development for all regions of the State.
Speaking at a function here to highlight the achievements of the BJP Government on the completion of two years at the Centre, she said ‘an atmosphere of fear and insecurity had been created among the minority communities prior to the coming to power of the present BJP Government, but these misconceptions have died a natural death and the reality has turned out to be different’.
Shripad Yesso Naik, Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) and Health and Family Welfare was also present on the occasion along with senior national and local BJP leaders and party workers from across the State.
“Prime Minister Modi talked of development wherever he went and the results are there for all to see. The present Government does not believe in hollow slogans and the sustained efforts towards betterment of affairs have helped in changing mindsets of people and have also shown positive impact on the ground,” said Heptullah.
The Minister said that the development and prosperity of minorities is close to the heart of the Prime Minister and he has deputed the best officers for the purpose of addressing the grievances of these people.
Speaking with reference to the local artisans of the State, Heptullah said that Kashmiri craftsmen have the unique gift of creating magic through their artwork that has universal appeal and her Ministry will put in all efforts to give these craftsmen their due recognition.
Heptullah said that all promises made by the PM Narendra Modi have been fulfilled and a new era of development and peace has ushered in the country. She said that every section of the society feels empowered due to the various initiatives taken by the present Government and all are contributing their bit in making the nation as the most developed ones globally.
The Union Minister assured that the problems faced by the minority children would be addressed at earliest, saying that new schemes and initiatives are being taken to ensure their overall development,”.
Referring to the PM’s initiatives to ensure women empowerment, the Union Minister said that schemes like ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and other initiatives have helped a lot in empowering the country’s half of the population. Speaking about skill development initiatives of the Modi led Government, the Minister Heptullah said that Union Government has opened various skill development centres across the country, adding that these centre, in Kashmir division, have been opened at Bandipora, Budgam, Baramulla, Srinagar, Anantnag and Ladakh.
Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Education and AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik also highlighted the achievements of the Modi-led Government and said that focus of the educational institutions should be on imparting value based education among the students as well.
The Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh while speaking on the occasion said that the work done by the NDA led Government during the last two years is historic. He said, “We have scaled the new heights of development in the country, be it economical, educational or sports”, he added.
He said that PDP-BJP Government would try to replicate the good work done by the centre in the state as well by ensuring all round and holistic development of the state and that too on equitable basis.
