SOPORE, July 22: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the Central Government should stop applying ad hoc approach towards the Kashmir issue.
In a press statement issued here today, Mr Vakil said that Centre should understand that it is only dialogue which can be helpful in resolving Kashmir issue and restoring peace in the State because dialogue is the only platform to move ahead to resolve all issues relating to Jammu and Kashmir amicably in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the State. Central Government should come forward and break the ice to seriously involve Hurriyat Conference leaders into a meaningful dialogue to resolve issues confronting people of the State, Vakil added.
Mr Vakil expressed serious concern over the statement of Home Minister of India in Parliament yesterday where he didn’t utter a single word regarding involving the Hurriyat in dialogue or condemning the use of pellet guns where near about 50 innocent people have died thousands have been left injured and said Govt of India should stop applying this dictatorial attitude break the ice and initiate dialogue with the Hurriyat leaders and take it to the logical conclusion.
He appealed Members of Parliament of both the houses of Parliament to pursue Centre to clear stand on its Kashmir policy. People have witnessed huge bloodshed and this dilly delaying policies were further complicating the issue instead of resolving it, Vakil said adding that any further delay will result in alienation of people which will not be in the interest of the country as well as J&K State.
Condemning the unabated killings in State, former Minister stressed upon the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to issue stringent instructions to security forces to exhibit utmost restraint and patience while dealing with prevailing situation.
He demanded probe by the two sitting judges of High Court into the killings of about 50 people and also the people who have been injured and half of them have been left paralyzed and blind in Kashmir.
