JAMMU, Feb 15: The Central Government Employees Welfare Co-ordination Committee (CGEWCC), Jammu under the Chairmanship and guidance of Saswati Bandyopadhyay, IDAS, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts, Jammu, began its games as part of sports events being organized by it in Jammu for the welfare and development of Central Government employees stationed at Jammu.
The indoor games being organized by CGEWCC include Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Volleyball and Cricket. The outdoor games will be held in the month of March.
The first match of Table Tennis was inaugurated by Sahil Goyal, IDAS, Assistant Controller of Defence Accounts and Pooja Bhat, IDAS, ACDA in the Recreation Club of Pr. CDA Jammu Cantt.
Twenty six players of different departments like CDA, IIIM, A.G’s Office, Custom and Excise, Intelligence Bureau, Airport Authority of India, Survey of India and CWC took part in the Table Tennis single events. The first semifinal match was played between Naresh Joshi of IIIM and Dushyant Sharma of SoI, wherein Naresh Joshi won the match by a margin of 11-6, 11-7, 11-8, while the second semifinal was played between Abishek Gupta of Custom & Excise and Shashi Jamwal, which was won by Abhishek Gupta by 11-4, 11-5 & 11-6.
In the final, Abhishek Gupta toppled Naresh Joshi by 10-8, 8-11, 10-12 & 6-11.
The matches were officiated by BS Bhan (Chairman), NSSO, Ashok Chaddha, AAO, AG Office, Sham Lal, CWC, Vikram Abrol, Vimarsh Kaw, Anooop Magotra, Shashi Jamwal, Rattan Lal and some other officers. The double event of table tennis will be played tomorrow at the same venue.
