NEW DELHI, Mar 11: A delegation of Central Government Health Services (CGHS) Doctors called on Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh and sought his intervention for timely promotions through implementation of Non-Functional Upgradation (NFU) Scheme recommended by 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC).
Joint Action Council of Service Doctors Organizations, led by its President, Dr. D.R. Dey and other office bearers, submitted a memorandum to Dr. Jitendra Singh stating that a Non-Functional Upgradation Scheme recommended by 6th Central Pay Commission was introduced in Group-A Services in 2009. However, while this scheme was implemented by other organized Group-A services, it was not introduced in Central Health Services in spite of the CGHS being a member of organized Group-A service.
The doctors’ delegation sought Dr. Jitendra Singh’s intervention, particularly because he is also handling the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) and claimed that when the issue was taken up with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, they informed that they had referred the matter to DoPT and a court writ was also filed by them, which according to them, had given them a favourable verdict. They requested the Minister to take up the matter in DoPT for redressal of their long pending demand for implementing the scheme of NFU in Central Government Health Service.
Dr. Jitendra Singh gave a patient hearing and said he would find out details from DoPT and take a view accordingly.
