Chairman felicitates J&K Bank football team, announces cash prize

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Appreciating the performance of J&K Bank football team in the current season, Chairman and CEO J&K Bank Mushtaq Ahmed, who is also patron J&K Bank Sports Board, felicitated the team in a simple function held at the Bank’s Corporate Headquarters.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman said, “It is a matter of happiness to see our young and energetic footballers outperforming the other teams in various tournaments held across the state. I wish you best for the furture endeavours and hope you keep shining in the times to come.”
The game is all about discipline, coordination and determination and I expect our team to stay the course on all these accounts in the future tournaments, he added.
He appreciated the team management also for its support to the Team during the course of the season. Those players who were recently regularized and elevated to higher scale were asked to continue the good work in future also.
Boosting the morale of the team further on the occasion, Chairman announced a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh for them.
The Chairman stressed upon the regular performance review of the team so that all necessary steps are taken for better performance of the team.
Meanwhile, Chairman J&K Bank Sports Board Surjeet Singh Sehgal apprised the Patron Sports Board about the efforts made by the board for ensuring better performance of the team during the course of the year.
Pertinently, the team won two tournaments while achieving runners-up position in the third one. The Bank team won the “Shiekh-Ul-Alam Football Tournament” played in May-June this year by beating Forest XI in the final by 3-1.
While as in the most prestigious tournament of the State “Annual Super League Football Tournament 2015”, J&K Bank Football Team defeated its arch rival Forest XI by two goals to nil and was declared League Champions for the year 2015 by Jammu & Kashmir Football Association.
Earlier, in another tournament held in October 2015, the Bank team secured runners-up position in a tie-breaker with Forest XI, winning cash prize of Rs 1 Lac.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman, Secretary, Sports Officer, Team Managers, members of the Sports Board alongwith the players of the senior football team.
