SRINAGAR, June 30: To take stock of the functioning of various House Committees, the Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, today convened a meeting of heads of these Committees.
Underscoring the importance of the law making institution, the Chairman said that the business of the House through its various Committees should be carried out in such a way that the ultimate benefit trickles down to the people.
The Chairman stressed upon the heads of these Committees to conduct their respective meetings as per schedule to address various issues of public importance. He also said the concerned will ensure that each Committee performs its functions and examines reports from various line departments and submits recommendations.
The Chairman directed the staff of the Council Secretariat to redouble their efforts so as to ensure that the work of each committee is carried out in a smooth manner.
During the meeting, Chairmen of various House Committees also gave suggestions with regard to functioning of their respective Committees. They also suggested various additions and changes to the schedule issued by the Council Secretariat regarding the meetings of the House Committees.
Besides the Chairmen of various Committees including Ashok Khajuria, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Vibod Gupta and Jugal Kishore, Secretary Law Department Muhammad Ashraf Mir, senior officers and Incharges of the House Committees of the Legislative Council attended the meeting.
