Challenger CC drubs Engineers XI by 5-wkts

JAMMU, June 12: Challenger Cricket Club outplayed Engineers XI by 5 wickets to enter the semifinals of the ongoing Salute and Tribute T20 Veteran Cricket Tournament, being organized by Parade Sports Association at Parade Ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, Engineers XI scored 135 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Raman Dogra was the top scorer with quick-fire 34 runs off 14 balls, studded with 6 boundaries, while Susheel Bakshi contributed 32 runs off 39 balls with 3 boundaries and Manhas chipped in with 17 runs. Madan Mohan was the pick of the bowlers from Challenger CC, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Vijay Sharma, Suneet Singh, Rajesh Verma and Narinder Singh claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Challenger Club, chased the target in 15.3 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Sachin Sharma was the top scorer, who made 34 runs off 16 balls with 5 boundaries, while Madan Mohan contributed valuable 31 off 22 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes. Paramjeet Singh also contributed 29 runs with the help of 5 boundaries and Narinder Singh chipped in with 18 runs. Ashok Singh scalped 3 wickets for Engineers XI, while Sanjeev Sharma claimed 2. Madan Mohan was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Ajay Sharma as umpires, while Sunny and Dr Karan Nayyar acted as scorer and physiotherapist respectively.
Laxmi Cricket Club will take on Dogra Cricket Club in the first semifinal tomorrow.
