Challenger Club outplays Vijaypur Club in inaugural tie

SAMBA, Mar 29: Challenger Club outplayed Vijaypur Club by a huge margin of 53 runs in the inaugural tie of the Samba T-20 Cricket Cup being organized by Chandan Cricket Club at Kehli Mandi ground, here today.
Winning the toss and batting first, Challenger Club scored 142 runs for all out in stipulated 20 overs.
In the second inning, Vijaypur Club failed to chase the target and bundled out at just 89 runs for all out.
Sahil of Challenger Club was declared as man of the match for scalping 5 wickets and scoring 50 runs.
The match was officiated by Hanu and Lucky as umpires.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Provincial Vice President (Women), National Conference, Satwant Kaur Dogra, in presence of president of Chandan Cricket Club, Samba Kamaldeep Singh, Vivek, Sangram, KD Singh, Shashi Chib and Radhey Sham.
While speaking, Satwant Kaur Dogra said that these tournaments play a vital role in channelizing the youth in positive direction and also to explore their talent.
She asked youth to come forward and participate in sport activities which are essential for overall development of youth.
Dogra said that she will take up the issue of construction of an indoor stadium with a swimming pool at Samba with the concerned Minister.
Kamaldeep Singh said that a total of teams of various clubs are participating in the tournament. He said that the tournament will be played on knock out basis.
