JAMMU, Nov 2: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar today received and welcomed 16-year-old Para Archer Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar at Jammu. The Para Athletes have returned after winning Medals at recently concluded Para Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.
Sheetal Devi, who was born without arms, has defied all odds to become the World’s First Armless Female Champion Archer. The Divisional Commissioner saluted her grit, determination and invincible spirit of Sheetal Devi that made her world’s first para Archer without arms. He also lauded the hard work and achievements of Rakesh Kumar. The UT of J&K and the nation is proud of the achievements of the para Athletes, he said.
The Divisional Commissioner further added that the UT of J&K under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is making all efforts to promote sports and sportspersons. He also appreciated the role of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board for nurturing and providing facilities to the athletes.
