JAMMU, June 7: Scripting a convincing victory by 25 runs over Bhalwal Zone in the summit clash, Jammu Zone lifted the title trophy of the District Level Inter-Zonal Under-17 Boys Cricket Tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu at Parade Ground, here.
The Inter Zonal District Level Tournament of District Jammu in the disciplines of Cricket Under-17 boys concluded today, while the Cricket Tournament of Under-17 Girls got underway at Parade Ground, here.
In all, 448 boys drawn from 14 Zones of Jammu District took part in the Tournament to vie for the top honours.
In Cricket Under-17 Girls at the same venue, Team-A beat Team-B by 10 runs in a close contest. Team A scored 82 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 8 overs, while in reply, Team-B contributed 72 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 8 overs.
The Tournament was organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, Director General and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director.
Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu who was the Organising Secretary of the tournament was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed the prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion. Mohd Farooq (PEM) was the coach of Jammu Zone team.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Zonal Physical Education Officers Jeet Singh, Anju Gupta, Tarsem Sharma, Jasbir Singh, Veena Tickoo and Ravi Kumari.
The match was officiated by Pankaj Sasan, Sadiq Hussain Malik and Saleem-ur-Rehman.
The panel of selectors of the Department was also present on the occasion as the main objective of the tournament was to select the team of District Jammu for Inter-District Division Level Tournament.
