CHANDIGARH, Jan 24: Chandigarh were 18/0 on a rain-hit day-1 against Jammu and Kashmir as only six overs of play was possible in Ranji Trophy Elite Group-D match at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16 Chandigarh today.
Wicketkeeper batter Arijit Singh was unbeaten on 8 off 19 balls, studded with 2 boundaries, while Arslan Z Khan was at the crease on 6 off 17 balls including one boundary.
For J&K, speedster Umar Nazir bowled 3 overs by conceding 10 runs, while another medium pacer Rohit Sharma bowled 2 overs by giving away 4 runs. Left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq also bowled one maiden over.
This match is just of academic interest for both the teams as both are at the bottom of the points table with 7 and 6 points in their kitty.
Madhya Pradesh are topping the table in Elite Group-D with 32 points, followed by Punjab with 26 points, while Vidarbha, Railways, Gujarat and Tripura have secured 19, 15, 14 and 8 points respectively.
However, the match has still a lot of significance because it is one more opportunity for the good performers to enhance their performance.
