SRINAGAR, June 16: Chandigarh emerged overall winner in the 13th All India North Carrom Championship organised by J&K Carrom Association under the aegis of All India Carrom Federation and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council at SP Higher Secondary School, here today.
In women team championship event, Chandigarh, J&K and Haryana claimed first, second and third positions, whereas in men category, Chandigarh, Haryana and Uttrakhand emerged winners.
In the junior Girls category, Nidhi Gupta and Gurkiran Kour, both from Chandigarh bagged first and second ranks respectively, whereas Shilpa of Haryana secured third position.
In junior Boys singles, Divij Bhanga claimed first position, whereas Mohammad Arib and Yishu Sharma, both from Chandigarh secured second and third positions respectively.
In Women singles, Priya Sharma, Farheen and Tuba Sehar claimed first, second and third positions, whereas in men singles, Sameer from Uttrakhand secured first position and Mohammd hassan and Gagandeep Singh, both from Chandigarh secured second and third positions respectively.
On the concluding day, Salman Sagar, Ex-Mayor Srinagar was the chief guest, who awarded the winners in presence of SK Sharma, Secretary General, International Carrom Federation, Firdous Ahmad Khan, general secretary, J&K Carrom Association, Avtar Singh, President, J&K Carom Association, Reyaz Ahmad Khan, organizing secretary, GS Bakshi Convener of the championship and Manager SK Sharma.
