JAMMU, Dec 13: Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and West Bengal outplayed rivals in their respective matches and sailed into the quarterfinal round of the U-17 Football Tournament, being organized during the ongoing National School Games at different venues.
The first pre quarterfinal match played between Chandigarh and Tripura ended in draw by 2-2 goals and in tie breaker, Chandigarh defeated Tripura by 3-2 goals.
In the second match, players of Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, but the former registered win by solitary goal and sailed into the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
The third match was also of high temperature, as players of Bihar and Punjab teams were seen sweating hard to win the match and register berth in the next round. Finally, the players of Bihar proved mettle and won the match by 1-0.
The players and West Bengal and Chhattisgarh also sweated well in the fourth match, but West Bengal got the chance to enter the next round by netting the solitary goal of the match.
The Football Tournament under National School Games is being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports Jammu.
