Charas, liquor seized in Katra; two arrested

JAMMU, Oct 30: In its ongoing drive against the menace of drugs and illicit liquor at holy town of Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji shrine, police today arrested a drug peddler with charas and another person with poly pouches of liquor.
SP Katra Naresh Singh said a police team of Ban Ganga during patrolling near Darshani Deodi arrested a safai karamchari and recovered 110 grams charas from his possession. The accused has been identified as Jaan Mohammad son of Ghulam Ali R/o Kishtwar.
A FIR has been registered against him at Katra police station for further investigations and ascertain source of drug supply to Katra town.
The accused was being questioned, the SP Katra said.
Katra police also arrested another accused from an auto No. 2449 JK02AH at Painthal and recovered 50 poly pouches of liquor from his possession, which he was taking to holy town of Katra for selling.
The accused has been identified as Mohan Kumar son of Prem Lal R/o Dadoora, Katra.
Another accused Ravi Kumar managed to escape from the spot when the three-wheeler was intercepted to stop.
Katra police, it may be mentioned, has launched drive against narcotics and supply of liquor in the holy town during which number of accused have been arrested and recoveries made from their possession.
