Madhya Pradesh cueists Kamal Chawla and Amee Kamani won the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the National 6-Red Snooker Championship at the Bengal Rowing Club here today.
While Chawla got the better of Manan Chandra in a pulsating battle that went down to the wire and lasted more than three hours, Kamani prevailed over the experienced Vidya Pillai 4-1 to win the title with ease.
Chawla won the best of 13-frame contest 7-6 against Chandra as the duo will join Indian ace Pankaj Advani to represent India at the 6-Red World Championship that will be held at Sharm el-Shiekh in Egypt, Capt PVK Mohan, President of the International Billiards & Snooker Federation said.
“It is great feeling to win my first National title in front of my Guru and coach Mr Geet Sethi, it was the perfect icing on the cake,” Chawla said after winning his maiden title from seven attempts.
In the third place playoff of the men’s section, Aditya Mehta beat Pushpinder Singh 4-1. PTI
