Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Mar 11: Transparency and Accountability Forum (TAF) here today held a meeting under the chairmanship of S. Hardev Singh, Forum president.
Speakers in the meeting claimed that Chemist Shops in almost all Government Hospitals charge as per MRP on medicines while the Chemist Shops outside such hospitals offer 15-40 per cent discounts and they display the same in bold letters.
They also said that Jan Ausudhi Generic Medicine Fair Price Shops in Government Hospitals were not given wide publicity and doctors prescribe medicines by names of big pharmaceutical companies which are mostly not available on fair price shops.
The Forum urged upon the J&K LG and also to administration of such Hospitals that Chemist Shops at Government Hospitals must be asked to give the same discount as is given by Chemist Shops outside Hospitals and the prescription slips by doctors should mention about generic medicine shop’s address and Hospitals should install big sign board so that poor patients get benefits of PM’s dream project of affordable medicines and loot of private laboratories should be stopped as touts of such labs always roam in GMC and doctors too insist for testing through such labs due to their vested interests.
