Chennai hotelier arrested for links with key bookie

Chennai, June 10: The Crime Branch CID police of Tamil Nadu, investigating the betting scam in the sixth edition of  the Indian Premier League(IPL) today arrested  the city based star hotel owner Vikram Aggarwal.
Aggarwal to whom the CB CID had earlier issued summons after his links with bookies came to light, appeared before it this morning after biding time.
According to CB CID sources, preliminary enquiry with  Aggarwal revealed that the latter had a close association  with Uttam C Jain alias Kitty already arrested by the CB CID.
Further inquiry also brought to light the fact that Vikram had very good information about pitch conditions. Hence, the arrest.KItty was using Aggarwal’s hotel-Radissson Blu-, in particular room no 724 for betting in IPL matches/ He had been making 100s of calls with some mobile phones which were apparantly of questionabl ownership.
Aggarwal also appeared before Mumbai police on charges of betting. (UNI)
