Chess: Aditya P Melani of Gujarat emerges sole leader after Round-5

*Mayor JMC inaugurates 5th round

JAMMU, Aug 4: Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta inaugurated the 5th round of the ongoing 28th National Youth Under-25 Chess Championship at IDPS School, Bathindi, here.
He appreciated the efforts of AJKCA for organizing record 14th National level event in J&K under the guidance of its president Atul Kumar Gupta.
The Mayor said that such type of competitions will divert the energies of youth towards sports and positive direction and keep them away from drugs and other social evils.
Meanwhile, Aditya P Melani of Gujarat emerged sole leader with 5 points after 5 rounds, registering a tough fought victory in 4th round. Kumar S of Tamil Nadu and Bharadia Yash of Rajasthan were closely following him at 4.5 points each.
“20 players from J&K state are participating in this event which will give lot of exposure to the local players,”said Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA and Chairman Organizing Committee.
“Four more rounds are still to be played in this event. Top 3 games are shown live on Internet. 109 players from 22 states are currently participating in this event,” Atul added.
The event is being organized by Crown Trust under the banner of All J&K Chess Association and J&K State Sports Council. Event is being played under FIDE Laws of chess under Swiss System in which total 9 rounds will be played.
Raj Kumar, DySP Prosecution is the Organizing Secretary of this event. Also present on the occasion were Baldev Raj, Taranvir Singh Gujral, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, Vikas Nanda, Dr AS Bhatia, Rakesh Kumar Gupta and Madhu Abrol.
Suminder Singh, Managing Director, IDPS is monitoring all the arrangements.
Nitin Shenvi and Pranesh Yadav are Chief and Deputy Chief Arbiters appointed by Federation for this event.
Other supporting Arbiters are Anil Kotwal and Bindu Pathania. Technical help is also being provided by Ravi Sharma and Sunil Sharma among others.
This is the record 14th All India level event being organised by AJKCA.
