JAMMU, Sept 3: A chess event, Battle of Minds Open Chess Championship was organised here today.
The event was held in the two different age categories an open age category and below 13 years of age category. Sumit Grover won the 1st prize in open category while Rithvik Gandotra won 1st prize in under-13 age category.
Atul Kumar Gupta, joint secretary All India Chess Federation, Baldev Raj president, All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association and S.P. Sharma, Advisor AJKCA distributed the prizes among the winners. Arvindu Sharma conducted all the matches under Swiss system as per latest FIDE Laws of Chess.
Both the winners were presented with cash prize worth Rs 3000 each and glittering trophy. Meanwhile, Viraj Singh Jamwal and Ansh Bakshi won gold medals in Under-11 and Under-9 categories respectively.
