JAMMU, July 26: Madhvansh Mittal of Punjab emerged winner in Chess championship organized at IDPS School Sunjwan, here today, while Arvindu Sharma of Jammu and Kashmir also scored equal points but due to Tie breaker rules he had to contend with second position.
The event was organized by Crown Trust under the aegis of AJKCA and J&K Sports Council in collaboration with IDPS School Sunjwan.
A total of 142 players from 10 States participated in this event. Deepak Batra of Punjab got 3rd place. S.P. Sharma got the best veteran award while young Alankrita Sharma won best female players award.
Aryan Raj Bali got the best U-19 award while Saransh Dabas of Delhi got the best U-15 award. Lakshit Puri won best U-13 award while Pazhany Kohli got best U-11 award. Ishwam Kawatra got the best U-9 award.
Principal IDPS School, Randeep Wazir was the special guest on the occasion who distributed trophies and cash awards among the winners. Also present on the occasion were Atul Kumar Gupta Joint Secretary AICF and Working President AJKCA and Baldev Raj President AJKCA, IDPS School Manager Madhu Abrol , Priyanka Sehgal,Arvindu coordinator AJKCA besides other esteemed guests were present in today’s matches.
International Arbiter Varun Kumar of Punjab was Chief Arbiter of the event while Arushi Kotwal of J&K and Neeraj Patel of Gujarat were Deputy Arbiters for this event. The event was played under FIDE Laws of chess with latest international rules. More than five players achieved FIDE rating by performing in this event.
