Chhamb DPs seek hike in compensation

JAMMU, Aug 17: Chhamb Displaced Persons Association (CDPA) has demanded enhancement in the rate of cash compensation in lieu of land deficiency in favour of Chhamb DPs of 1971.
In a meeting of Chhamb Displaced Persons Association of 1971, held today under the leadership of S R Nagial, president of the association, the members discussed the pending problems/demands of Chhamb DPs of 1965 and 1971 and particularly regarding the latest position of the one time settlement package of Rs 2000 crore.
Other demands raised in the meeting included approval of supplementary list of the left over families for payment of cash compensations in lieu of land deficiency as per market rates, payment of cash compensation of the families whose land has been acquired by BSF/ Industrial Growth Centre at Samba, payment of cash compensation to the DP families whose land has come under military/BSF and Border fencing and conferment of ownership rights over the State land allotted to Chhamb DPs of 1965 as has been done in the case of DPs of 1947 and 1971.
