SRINAGAR, Oct 18: Minister for Medical Education and Youth Services & Sports, R S Chib today inaugurated 2nd Sub-Junior National Dodge Ball Championship 2012 at Indoor Stadium Srinagar.
The Championship was organized by J&K Dodge Ball Association under the aegis of Dodge Ball Federation of India. In this championship 14 teams representing different States of country including Jammu and Kashmir are participating. The inaugural match was played between the teams of Kerala and Andra Pradesh.
Among others who were present on the occasion, include Deputy Director General News Doordarshan, Bashir Ahmad Malik, General Secretary, Dodge Ball Federation of India, B. S. Barar, Secretary, J&K Dodge Ball Association, S. Balbir Singh, participants and other concerned.
Chib, speaking on the occasion, highly appreciated the efforts of associations for organizing such National level event in valley. He said that it is a very positive move to promote sports sector of the valley.
Chib said that such events besides bridging the gap between local players and players of other parts of country help in promoting brotherhood and harmony besides, provide a sound platform for local youth to exhibit their talent and sports opportunities to them for competing at national and International levels.
Chib said sports is an imperative source for understanding bridging the gap between isolated communities.
Minister urged upon the players of valley to take part in such events with full zeal and enthusiasm so that it can be helpful for their all round development.
Minister expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for his efforts of providing full support for the upliftment and betterment of the sports sector in the State. He also hailed the efforts of the organizers for organizing such National level Championship at Srinagar and hoped that holding of such sports events will send positive message to the people residing outside the valley regarding the peaceful environment of the valley.
Chib stressed upon the participants to be an ambassadors of the Kashmir and present this valley as paradise on the earth.
