JAMMU, Nov 13: The birth day of Jawaharlal Nehru popularly known as “Children Day” was celebrated with pomp and show.
May Fair Higher Secondary School, Chand Nagar and May Fair School, Janipur celebrated Children Day. Children were dressed as Jawahar Lal Nehru. On the occasion, essay competition was also organized on various topics including ‘save water save life’, ‘save energy save money’ and ‘save trees save life’. Chairman Vijay Basur along with faculty members threw light on the importance of the day.
To celebrate Children Day, three day CMP Cluster Meet held at KV No.1 Udhampur concluded today, in which students from 6 Kendriya Vidyalayas of Udhampur Cluster participated. Different competitions were held in which all the participants portrayed the best of their talents. On the concluding day, Dr R Prasad, Venue Principal, Cluster Incharge was the chief guest, whereas Vice Principal Basanti Khampa, PGT Vikramaditya and officiating Head Mistress Usha Koul were also present. The day proceeded with prize distribution ceremony in which all the winners were given trophies along with the certificates. Special Prizes to the children possessing special talents were also distributed. Teachers were also presented mementoes for giving stage performances. The programmes were coordinated by the incharge Minakshi Sharma, Sudesh Kohli and Aarti Poonia.
DRS Kids Bantalab celebrated Children Day with enthusiasm and zeal. On the occasion, a fancy dress show was organized, in which children participated. Director Kapil Chib and Principal Monica Sharma highlighted the importance of the day.
Lord Mahavira Playway School celebrated Children Day with pomp and show. A magic show was held for the entertainment of the children. Children attired as Jawahar Lal Nehru recited various poems and songs. Principal Madhu Sharma said that it is very important to provide quality education to the children so that a strong foundation is built, which transforms them into responsible adults. Later, Babita Sharma distributed sweets and gifts among the students.
Children’s Day was celebrated at the premises of local Army unit at Samot, Budhal, in which children from adjoining schools participated and presented a cultural programme. The event afforded a glimpse of the local cultural heritage and also provided a platform for children to showcase their talent. Students spoke about the life and teachings of Jawahar Lal Nehru. The chief guest distributed prizes to children for encouraging them.
