JAMMU, Nov 14: Children’s Day and Gurpurab were celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm.
First Lady of the State, Usha Vohra, participated in the Children’s Day and Guru Nanak Jayanti celebration programme organized by the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Welfare Society (VKWS). Students of the schools which are being run by the VKWS presented a very impressive cultural programme which included skits, songs and dance items. Vohra exhorted the teachers to imbue their students with high moral values, developing in them the capability to always take high moral grounds and advised the children to speak truth even in the face of adversity. Vohra released “Surging Steps”, brochure of VKWS, and presented scholarships to the meritorious rural girl students who have been adopted by the VKWS. Earlier, Ved Kumari Ghai, President of the VKWS, presented the welcome address, while Ruby Sharma, Working President, VKSW presented vote of thanks.
BSF School Jammu celebrated Children’s Day to aware the people towards the rights and education of children in the school campus. Celebrations began with the floral tribute paid to Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, The first Prime Minister of India whose birthday is also celebrated as Bal Diwas. Principal, Dr S K Shukla alongwith the staff and children paid floral tribute to Pt Nehru. A special morning assembly was held. Teachers of the school delivered speeches highlighting the importance of day. Various events were organized to mark the occasion. Principal Dr S K Shukla gave prizes to various students who had excelled in different events. Raman house was adjudged as winner of sports activity.
Children’s Day was celebrated at Maharaja Hari Singh DAV Public Higher Secondary School Udhampur. The programme started with the welcome speech by Principal of the instruction Durgesh Nandini. Different types of races were held between the tiny tots of Akshar Playway School. In poem recitation competition, students of primary wing participated. In story telling competition, the students of middle standard exhibited their talent.
The Stephens International Public School, Miran Sahib celebrated Gurpurab with great zeal and fervor. The celebration began with the enlightened thought of Guru Nanak Dev, highlighting the message of brotherhood mankind as a tribute to the Great Guru. Shabad Kirtan, chanting hymns and Prabhat feri were the main attractions of the day.
Jammu Public School, Sainik Colony celebrated Children’s Day. GA Mir, President PCC J&K was the chief guest, while Raman Bhalla, Vice President PCC, Rigzin Zora MLA, Jai Singh, senior Congress leader and ex-corporator and Indu Pawar MLA were the guest of honour. Chairperson of the school Santosh Sharma presented the welcome address. The function started with paying floral tributes to first Prime Minister of India Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru. Students sung Saraswati Vandana. The participants also spoke about the achievements and work done by Pt Nehru. Among others present were Sikander Singh Kuka, SS Jamwal, Sukhdev Choudhary, Arun Singh General Secretary Youth Congress, Advocate Rahul Singh, Mian Abhay Pratap Singh, etc.
Indira Public School, Shant Nagar, Janipur celebrated Children’s Day with pomp and show. Students presented cultural items on the occasion. Principal Rashu Padha highlighted the importance of the day.
To commemorate Children’s Day, Cambridge Public High School, Paloura organized a cultural programme. Students attired as Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru and other leaders presented a cultural extravaganza. Principal Baljit Singh Manhas threw light on the life and teachings of Pt Nehru.
Amigo conducted Poetry and Kathak workshop for kids on Children’s Day at Channi. Brain behind this unique concept of Amigo, Swati Basotra, an educationist, counsellor and a visionary, believes in the practice of child centric education and follows Developmental Appropriate Practices where they treat every child as unique and special and nurture a child’s social, emotional and academic skills through art. On the occasion of Gurpurab, Amigo launched Amigo Care School for Pre-nursery, Nursery and LKG and opened the registration. The school was inaugurated by Sarita Chauhan, Chairperson J&K Services Selection Board.
Congress celebrated the 127th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India under the leadership of Subash Gupta Ex-MLC President DCC Kathua and paid rich tributes on Pt Nehru. While speaking, Subash Gupta said that Pandit Jawaharlal Lal Nehru was the architect of modern India. Among others present were Yugal Kishore Bali, Yash Pal Singh, Rudhu Ram, Master Sangru Ram, Master Sat Pal, Sanjeev Mathuar, Ramesh Kundel and Parveen Kumar.
On the 127th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, floral tributes ceremony was organised at Batote under the leadership of Youth Congress Leader Ramban Shahrukh Bhatti. While speaking, Shahrukh Bhatti threw light on the life and teachings of Pt Nehru. Among others present were Mujeeb Mir, NSUI Leader, Aqib, Aman Sharma and Sanjeev Kumar.
Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS) conducted its fortnightly literary, here today. Dr Monojit was the chief guest on the occasion and Didar Singh, a well known Punjabi and Hindi writer of the State presided over the meeting, which was organized in connection with Gurpurab. Jang S Verman, a well known artist, columnist on art and culture and Secretary, PLS, was also present on the occasion. Literary creations in the form of papers were presented and poetry recited by the well known Punjabi writers attending the meeting. Harbhajan Singh ‘Anjan’ read out his paper on the theme ‘Aurat’, throwing light on women’s position in the light of various sections of the society and the approach of Shri Guru Nanak Dev in raising her status in the society. Dr Monojit presented his paper on ‘Guru Gobind Singh Ji Da Pahila Yudh explaining the prevailing situation and the conditions consequently leading to a conflict with the hill Rajas. A poetry recitation session was conducted in which Amar Singh Kuka, MS Kamra, Rahi Simbalpuria, Piara Singh Dhanjal, Harbhajan Singh ‘Upashak’ and Suraj Singh ‘Suraj’ presented their poetry on the themes relevant to the Gurpurab celebration. Earlier, Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, General Secretary, PLS presented the welcome address. In his presidential note S. Didar Singh presented his views about the programme presented during the literary meet. Dr Monojit also expressed his views on the articles and poetry presented during the meet. In the end, Devinder Singh Vishavnagrik, President, PLS presented the vote of thanks.
CII hosted Children’s Day celebration at Bal Niketan, Ambphalla. The little ones of Bal Niketan had their special day made more beautiful by the office bearers of CII and French Club. CII in association with the French Club had organized a function at the orphanage in which books had been distributed among the children. Team of French Club showcased a very entertaining cultural programme where kids performed various acts. Sudesh Pal Gupta, Secretary, Bal Niketan welcomed the team of CII. Sheikh Imran, Chairman CII J&K State Council said that today’s interaction and this contribution to these children aim to inspire them to become great men and women in their life time, hence contributing to the nation building process. He further promised his full support to the welfare and well-being of the kids of Bal Niketan and encouraged all present to contribute. Rahul Sahai, Vice-Chairman CII J&K State Council said that CII has been contributing consistently as and when the demand or situations arise in J&K.
National Incredible Literacy Mission celebrated the 127th birth anniversary of Jawahar Lal Nehru as Children’s Day. The programme began with lightening of traditional lamp followed by welcome address by Divya Sharma Incharge Centre Head NILM Branch A, Patel Bazaar. Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director, National Incredible Literacy Mission, Jammu was the chief guest, who while speaking inspired the students to have moral values. A colourful cultural programme was presented by students. Staff members including Preeti Bajaj, Divya Sharma, Sakshi Dogra and Neetu Nagar also attended the function. On the occasion, KD Kurhan, Chairman, NILM said that the day reminds us the contribution of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru for the nation.
