Srinagar, Apr 27: As a part of ongoing efforts of Army under Chinar 9 Jawan Clubs towards nurturing youth talent, Army in Bandipora district of North Kashmir commenced a Cricket Premier League to promote budding cricketers from far flung areas.
A defence spokesman said the Chinar 9 Jawan Club Premier League aims to provide a platform to the young cricketers to showcase their talent in a competitive environment.
“This 18 day league commenced on April 26 at Sports Ground in Safapora Higher Secondary School with an overwhelming participation of 28 teams from all over the Valley. The league is being played on T-20 league-cum-knock out basis,” he said.
The first match was played between Wonder Boys Cricket Club, Safapora and Asham Eleven Cricket Club, which the former won. The match was thoroughly enjoyed by the youth who turned out in large numbers to cheer the teams.
