GULMARG, Feb 28: A large number of skiers participated in the two day long ‘Chinar Open Winter Games 2024’ at the ski resort of Gulmarg which concluded here today.
The event was organized by the Pir Panjal Brigade of the Dagger Division, captivating audiences with exceptional display of athleticism, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. Amidst the picturesque snow capped peaks of Pir Panjal Ranges, the Winter Games provide a positive outlet for the energy and enthusiasm of Kashmiri youth, channelling their potential towards constructive and competitive endeavours.
From adrenaline-fuelled skiing races to exhilarating snowboarding competitions, the event featured a wide array of winter sports. Athletes competed in five winter sports disciplines, namely slalom, snowboarding, ice skating and X-country skiing showcasing their dedication and determination.
Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai who was Chief Guest on the occasion felicitated all the participants and encouraged them to excel in sports and adventure activities.
With the overwhelming success of this edition, plans are already underway to expand and enhance future editions of the Chinar Open Winter Games, ensuring that Kashmir continues to shine as a beacon of sporting prowess and youth engagement in the years to come.
