Christmas celebrated with religious fervour in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 25: Like the rest of the world the Christmas was celebrated with religious gaiety and fervour in Srinagar wherein worshippers prayed for the peace of the Valley.
Braving the bone chilling cold of Chillia Kalan, harshest 40-day winter period in Kashmir, the worshippers gathered at the Holy Catholic Church Srinagar to celebrate the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ.
On the occasion the father of the church threw light on the teachings on the Jesus Christ and sent across message of peace and love. “We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. He was born in this world to bring the message of peace. It the celebration of God’s love in the human form,” he said.
After coming to this earth he taught humanity to love each other, he said. “Today’s message will be same that is to love each other. One should also love his enemies. If we love everyone the peace can be established automatically in this world along with Jammu and Kashmir which is always gripped with lot of tension and unrest. Christmas brings the message of love and that can lead to peace,” the priest said.
Some of the worshipers had come here form different parts of the country to celebrate the white Christmas. “I have come all the way from Mumbai to celebrate the festival,” a women from Mumbai said.
She said that the Christmas brings message of peace and love.
