JAMMU, Jan 13: Churchill Brothers defeated Param Football Club by three goals to one (3-1) to advance in the ongoing Christmas Cup Football Tournament, being organized by All J&K Christian Welfare Association, under the supervision of its president SM Gill and general secretary Feastus Sotra at Mini Stadium, Parade here.
Earlier, after the goalless first half, Moon Stephen of Churchill Brothers scored a goal via penalty kick in the 45th minute of the match to give his side a much needed lead. Then two back to back goals by Karan in 50th and 60th minute of the match put the Churchill Brothers in the driver’s seat, before Arun of Param FC reduced the lead by one goal as he pelted a superb goal in the 61st minute of the match. Churchill Brothers finally won by three goals to one (3-1). Though, the players of Param FC also made some good moves, yet could not convert them into goals.
In another match, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (J&K PDC) held Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) to (2-2) draw in the stipulated time. For J&KPDC, Amanjyot scored both the goals in 30th and 69th minute, while for JKP, Asif pelted the goal in 44th minute, while Manmohan scored another one through penalty kick in last minute of the match to level the scores. The match was stopped due to bad light and will be resumed tomorrow with the tie-breker.
The match was officiated by Suadhaghar Mattoo, Ramesh Kumar, Harmanjeet Singh, Rajeeb Deb and Vivian, while David Massi and Yousuf Don are the organizing secretaries.
