JAMMU, Sept 18: India’s biggest movement against animal abuse was launched here today by the citizens. 58 cities in India and 21 cities internationally launched the movement simultaneously.
The fact that this movement is not headed by any individual or any organisation, yet has received an overwhelming support of eminent personalities, literati, celebrities and most importantly the common man, is a proof that the motto of the movement has touched everyone.
The selfless and noble objective of the movement, to see a compassionate co-existence of society is moving not just Indians but has gained a noticeable support from the Indian communities living abroad as well.
“We are neither demanding reservation for us, nor asking for subsidies, not even any special treatment or privileges for us. All we want is that the defenseless beings who cannot even speak for themselves are treated with the dignity and honour that they deserve in the manner as envisaged in our Constitution. We want to see a society which is tolerant, compassionate and loving. The laws should be such that they can punish, curb and deter crimes against animals”, said Rumpy Madaan and Malvika Kalra, Head, IUFA, Jammu Chapter.
The key demands of the movement from the politicians are to pass the Animal Welfare Bill in the Parliament, include animal welfare policies in party manifestos and for every contestant to declare their stand on animals.
Eminent persons and students from different colleges were also present during the launch.
The show was hosted by Taranjit Singh Tony, Rumpy Madaan, Anandita Kulrattan Anand, Nitin Bakshi and Animesh Tiwari.
The videos were prepared by Shivender Singh Jamwal. Naresh Sharma and his troupe presented melodious songs and instrumental music.
