CJM Srinagar freezes accounts of JKCA

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Aug 2: The administrative apathy, which is a custom in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is presently at its peak as the misappropriation and mishandling of funds has made the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar to issue an order with regard to freezing of JKCA Bank Account of Air Cargo, Branch Account SOD 17 and also the accounts of JKCA Kashmir and Jammu wings till further orders, here today.
The Court has served directions that the order be sent to I.O. in case FIR No. 27/2012 of Police Station Ram Munshibagh for freezing accounts accordingly.
The application with regard to misappropriation of funds and criminal breach of trust was moved by Parveen Kapahi, Working Committee Member JKCA, who had claimed clandestine transfer of JKCA funds by M L Nehru, general secretary JKCA to personal/private account of Rakesh Kumar, vice chairman JKCA Jammu wing.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Mr Nehru said that the Court will take its own course, adding that the allegations are totally false.
He further said that he, time and again, requested the JKCA Jammu wing to clear the accounts, which they refused, adding that the activities were going on in Jammu without informing the higher authorities.
However, Rahul Bharti, who had attended the last Working Committee Meeting of the JKCA while representing Shastri Cricket Club, said that the Central body of the Association is not taking JKCA president into confidence, who had wished transparency and smooth functioning of the Association, adding that the administrative anarchy has again landed JKCA in financial crisis as the chairman and general secretary have failed to implement the court directions with regard to appropriation of funds after a recorded decision by JKCA office bearers in letter and spirit.
It is pertinent to mention here that the JKCA Jammu wing organized 4-weeks talent hunt/coaching camp for Ranji trophy, Under-25, Under-19, Under-16 and Under-14 probables at GGM Science College ground, which witnessed the participation of around 1000 cricketers and after holding the camp shortlisted players in each category.
However, to everybody’s surprise, the general secretary and the chairman had termed the camp as unauthorized and illegal.
The chaos and confusion in the Association has left the cricketers in the lurch as at the time of organizing more and more matches and coaching camps, the Association is again in the mess.
With the season in sight, the time was ripe for organizing matches, but the JKCA scheme of things has closed the doors for the same, unless some good sense prevails among the office bearers.
