Class 12th question paper controversy: BOSE to award grace marks on merits

JAMMU, Mar 7: In response to the class 12th students’ complaint regarding  change in pattern of  the question paper in Physics, which was held on March 1, the J&K Board of  School Education (BOSE) has announced to award suitable grace marks after analysis of overall result of the subject.
“The overall result of the said subject will be put on analysis and the candidates shall be awarded with suitable grace marks on merits, to be decided  by the Result Publishing Sub Committee, empowered to take such decisions as per the BOSE regulations prescribed in this regard,” said an official spokesperson of the Board.
As the experts of Physics subject, after proper scrutiny and verification of the said question paper with prescribed syllabus and course of study, did not find any substance in the students’ representation,  the grievances of the applicant candidates, therefore, merit no redressal at the moment, the spokesperson added.
Pertinent to mention that a large number of students, appearing in HSP-II (Class 12th)  have  registered  complaint about standard of question paper of Physics subject, which was held on March 1, 2017. Considering the complaints and representations in this regard, BOSE got this paper examined by a team comprising of seven experts of Physics subject.
According to the BOSE,  the experts have unanimously opined that the said question paper was set strictly in accordance with the syllabus, with due weightage to all the chapters and there was no change in pattern of the question paper.
However, the spokespersons said, it is assured that in the interest of student community, the overall result of the said subject will be put on analysis and the candidates shall be awarded with suitable grace marks on merits and hence the candidates  need not to worry and instead they should focus on their studies.
