JAMMU, Feb 9: Range Police Jammu in order to curb the menace of drug addiction especially among youth organized closing ceremony of 3rd Christmas Soccer Championship in collaboration with Christian Sports Organization at GGM Science College, here today.
Shakeel A Beig, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range was the chief guest on the occasion, while Fr Kuriakose, chairman, Christian Sports Organization presided over the function. Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director Academics, Jammu University, Parmod Kumar, Manager, Federal Bank, Jammu, Palki Anand Manager, South Indian Bank, Jammu and Rakesh Ranjan, Chief Manager, Canara Bank, Jammu were the guests of honour.
It is pertinent to mention here that J&K Police organizes various sports activities to involve youth in order to keep them mentally and physically fit and keep them away from drug addiction as well as social evils.
DIG Jammu highlighted the importance of the sports activities and said the the objective of the Soccer Championship was “Be healthy and say no to drugs”. He complemented the players for taking part in the tournament and wished them success.
14 teams from different Colleges participated in the tournament.
The matches were conducted under the supervision of DIG Jammu and Fr Kuriakose, while the tournament was sponsored by J&K Police, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank and Canara Bank.
The organizing committee members of the tournament included Sanjeev Khajuria, SSP, Principal PTS Kathua; Parshotam Sharma, DDP RPHQ Jammu; Prof D S Bhau, Director University of Jammu; Nicodemus, Markas Gill Advisors CSO; Aijaz Malik, Physical Direcor Commerce College; Rajesh Gill, Co-ordinator of the tournament; Victor Sotra, vice president CSO, Kuldeep Handoo, Sports Officer JKP and organizing secretaries Asif Gill and David Matoo.
The final match was played between Kashmir United and Novelty Kashmir.
