JAMMU, May 14: The closing ceremony of 12th Inter School J&K Taekwondo Championship was held at Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade here today.
The event was organized by J&K Taekwondo Association under the aegis of Taekwondo Federation of India in the sweet memory of late Gurinder Rakwal (Senior Taekwondo Coach, JKTA).
The Championship was open for all and it observed a massive participation of young athletes. Players across different schools from the UT participated. More than 300 students took part from various schools and clubs. The medalists of the event are selected to represent J&K in the upcoming LG Cup All India Club’s Taekwondo Championships.
The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Ranjit Kalra (JKSC Standing Committee and BCCI Member). Guests of honour were Vikas Gupta (senior president JAJK), Vivek Suri (general secretary, Veteran Cricket Association), Ramesh Chandra Sharma (general secretary JKTA), Subash Shastri (president NMS), Monika Rakwal (wife of late Gurinder Rakwal), Tarun Sharma (social activist), Anuj Sharma (organizing secretary JKTA), Vinod Garewal (office secretary JKTA) and Burhan ud Din Khan (secretary, DDTA).
The Technical team, who displayed the fair play decisions throughout the Championship, was led by Atul Pangotra (International Referee, WT).
In the referee panel were Shanaz Parveen, Narinder Sharma, Kushagra Sharma, Dushyant Singh, Vaibhav Abrol, Kartik Sharma, Rudhar Pratap Singh, Vansh Rakwal, Achutam Dev Singh, Sunil Vaid, Nitish Anand and Narinder Kumar.
