Cloud Computing Curriculum for MIET students launched

JAMMU, Sept 12: Computer Science and Engineering Department at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology in collaboration with EMC2 , the world’s leading IT company organized the first ever “Cloud Computing and Big Data Forum” at MIET, here today.
Krishna Kant, Head Academic alliance South Asia and Russia, EMC2   was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET was the guest of honour.
The event was supported by the CSI Student Chapter of MIET.
Prof Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET in his address welcomed all the dignitaries, and students from various colleges and universities who participated in the event. He apprised the audience on the importance of this domain and encouraged the students to develop industry-relevant skills since thousands of jobs are expected to be created in Cloud and Big Data in the near future.
Krishna Kant in his keynote address described cloud computing, big data and mobile computing as the three new enablers for the IT industry and described it as an exciting space for the future. He shared his belief that students with big data skills on their resume shall be in hot demand as they pass-out despite the tough economic environment.
Navjot Singh, Program Manager, Academic Alliance, EMC2 presented a detailed technical session on cloud computing and Big data including the Hadoop and Map Reduce frameworks.
On this occasion a technical report on Cloud Computing and Big Data prepared by Sahil Sawhney, Manager Strategic Initiatives, MIET and Prof. Ankur Gupta was released by Mr Krishna Kant. Prof Ankur Gupta presented a prototype of a big data application for academia which was developed at MIET.
