Cloudy skies in Delhi, MeT predicts rains after midnight

NEW DELHI:
Overcast conditions prevailed in the national capital today with MeT predicting possibility of light rains or thundershower post midnight.
The day temperature slumped by 2.7 degrees from yesterday’s maximum and was recorded three notches below the season’s average at 18 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature had settled three notches above the season’s average at 9.8 degrees Celsius.
“Light rain or thundershowers could occur after midnight onwards. There will be moderate fog in the morning and the skies will be partly cloudy tomorrow. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 17 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively,” said the MeT forecast.
Foggy conditions were witnessed in the morning which affected the operations of around 71 trains and 10 odd flights.
Visibility was recorded as 400 meters at 5.30 AM which improved to 600 meters at 8.30 AM and was recorded 1,000 and 1,200 meters at 11.30 AM and 2.30 PM respectively. At 5.30 PM, visibility was 1,000 meters.
As per Northern Railways, eight trains including Taj Express, Jalandhar Express, Firoz Inter-city etc were cancelled and 21 trains were rescheduled.
Also, 42 trains which includes Purushottam Express, Fazilka Express, Goa Express and Rajdhani’s coming to Delhi were running late by several hours due to adverse weather conditions.
Also, operations of 10 odd flights were affected. (AGENCIES)
