Cluster University organizes workshop on ‘Save Environment & Preserve Animal Life’

JAMMU, Nov 20: The Department of Student Welfare, Cluster University Jammu is organizing a series of academic and literary workshops and awareness programmes in the cluster colleges of the city to enhance the knowledge vistas of the young learners and hone their hidden potential.
In this connection, the department in collaboration with REHAI-freedom for animals, an initiative by Malvika Kalra, organized an interactive workshop today on ‘Save Environment and Preserve Animal Life’ for students of Environmental Studies of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.
Students were sensitized on how we are conditioned to treat natural resources and animals with disregard and how an animal based diet impacts the environment, the animals and our own health. Students were made aware of an eco-friendly environment to prevent global warming and droughts and floods.
Neha Sharma, HoD Environment Sciences gave the formal welcome address and Prof Aekta Gupta, Convener, Cultural Committee, was the coordinator of the workshop. Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Student Welfare, Cluster University Jammu, acknowledged the efforts of Prof Kaushal Samnotra for the conduct of the workshop. She exhorted that the university opines to provide an innovative platform to the students to enhance their multiple skills, paramount for overall development to keep pace in the techno savvy era.
The workshop concluded on a positive note on making small changes in our way of living by going Vegan. Leaflets by REHAI-freedom for animals and FIAPO (Federation of Indian Animals Protection Organiz-ations) were distributed in this regard.
