SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today deeply mourned the death of Inspector Altaf Ahmad, who was killed after he was fired upon by militants near Gund Dachin, in north Kashmir district of Bandipora.
The Chief Minister visited Police Control Room, where he laid floral wreath on the mortal remains of the slain police officer.
He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family of the deceased officer and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Also present were former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, Chief Secretary, B. R. Sharma, Director General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar, Chief Vigilance Commissioner, State Vigilance Commission, Kuldeep Khoda, IGP Kashmir Zone, SJM Gillani, besides several other senior police officers.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh has strongly condemned the killing of Police Officer.
In a statement, the Deputy Chief Minister said that these acts of cowardice are against the basic tenets of human values and should be condemned by one and all.
He said such inhuman actions are handiwork of the elements who are trying hard to disrupt peaceful atomospher and revive the dark era of chaos and destruction in the state.
“The recent events of the killing 4 army jawans at Handwara are also condembale and we should synergise our efforts to defeat the nefarious designs of the enemy. The sacrifices of these bravehearts for upholding the soverignty would be rememberd for long.”, he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister while expressing sympathy with the families of the deceased prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
