CM, DyCM, others grieved over deaths due to border shelling

SRINAGAR, May 13: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the death of two civilians and injuries to few others at Jhanger in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district today due to cross LoC shelling.
Mehbooba Mufti has directed the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri to immediately send rescue teams to the spot and ensure proper treatment of the injured and relocation of the affected people to safer places.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh has also expressed deep shock and grief over loss of lives in shelling from across the border in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
Dr Nirmal Singh also strongly condemned targeting of civilian areas and resorting to repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and assured every possible support from the government to the people affected by the firing.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister asked the district administration Rajouri to reach out to the people affected by the shelling and provide all possible help to enable them to cope with the distressing situation.
National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Working President Omar Abdullah have also condemned continued shelling from across the border in Nowshera and Manjakote sectors along Line of Control and expressed deep grief and anguish over the deaths of civilians in forward areas.
They prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved families to bear their irreparable loss. They conveyed their condolences and expressed solidarity with the families who have lost their dear ones and wished immediate recovery to the injured.
They called for urgent measures to ensure safety of the border dwellers and all assistance to those living in make shift accommodations.
Pradesh Congress Committee has strongly condemned Pakistan for heavy shelling in Nowshera  sector in which two persons lost their precious lives and several injured and shelling was continue.
PCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma (Ex-MLC) who was camping in the area visited the affected families and expressed shock over loss of lives and injuries to several others in the heavy shelling early morning today.
He met DC Rajouri Shahid Iqbal along with senior Congress leaders and prominent citizens  and demanded to shift affected people to safe area and make arrangement for their safety and temporary shelter, besides ex-gratia relief Rs 10 lakh to those martyred and  one lakh to the injured and also assessing the  damage to  property and crops.  They extend full cooperation on behalf of Congress party and senior citizens of the area in this hour of crises.
Congress leader also constituted a relief committee of citizens and prominent Congress and Youth Congress leaders to render all sorts of help to administration and border migrants who are shifted in the temporary camps. The Committee members included Subash Kapoor, Ex-Chairman MC Nowshera, Jagdish Sawhney, president Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Rajinder Prasad, Som Raj, Gourav Sharma (Advo), Ashok Sharma, Sumit Singh, Sumit Bali, Raj Kumar, Ravi Kant, Shakti Pal Singh, Dolat Ram, Anil Maini, Rakesh Gupta and several other prominent citizens.
