In a public rally at Rajpora in Pulwama district, the Chief Minister reiterated his government’s claim of having done many things to empower the common man and ensure his right to ask the Government to account for its various acts. He was emphatic in stating that Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) was a strong piece of legislation that would go a long way in empowering ordinary persons with their rights. It will be noted that the Chief Minister is giving much importance to the Act so much so that he has asked the Chief Secretary to monitor how effectively the Act is proving in mitigating public grievances and increasing transparency. The Government is satisfied and encouraged by the positive reports coming in. This has prompted the Chief Minister to ask the administration for bringing more services within the ambit of the Act. The proposals of Forest, Public Works and Health Departments are presently being examined in the General Administration Department and very shortly the proposals would be placed before the Chief Minister for his approval. Even a proposal has been received from the Transport Department for bringing two more services under the ambit of PSGA. With this the number of departments who’s identified services would be available to the common masses under the ambit of PSGA, would go up to 11. At present, 52 vital services of eight key departments are available for the common masses.
