JAMMU, July 30: A delegation of College Teachers Association,  led by the CTA president Prof. D S Manhas,  today met  Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, the Advisor (G) to  Governor, J&K State, to discuss various issues regarding college fraternity.
CTA raised the demand of implementation of UGC guidelines,  which include enhancing the age of superannuation of college teachers to 62 years at par with the State universities and creation of post of Professors in colleges, removal of pay anomaly in implementing 6th Pay Commission, advance increment for Ph D/ M Phil. and other higher qualifications in favour of college teachers.
CTA explained  that as per UGC guidelines,  Associate Professors have to be promoted as Professors in the colleges, but so far no headway has been made in this direction. There is an immediate need for creation of post of Professors in colleges, which will enhance the academic and research environment in the colleges, the members demanded.
The college teachers whose increment was due from February to June 2006 have been deprived from such increment whereas all other State Government  employees as well as Central Government  employees have got the same, CTA said and demanded that this increment be granted to college teachers.
Stating  that as per the UGC regulations 2018, advance increment for Ph D/M.Phil. has been restored in favour of college teachers, the Association demanded that notification in this regard may be issued by the Higher Education Department.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing and discussed about all the demands in detail for positive consideration.
The delegation comprised of Dr  Anil Ganjoo, Dr  Twinkle Suri, Dr Jagjeet Singh, Prof Rakesh Sharma, Dr Sandhya Bhardwaj and Prof Davinder Kour.
