JAMMU, Apr 30: In view of clear-cut case of negligence by gynecologist appointed in Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Akhnoor, Health Minister has constituted a committee to look into the matter.
Health Minister Bali Bhagat told the Excelsior that a two-member committee headed by CMO has been constituted to look into the matter.
He stated that the team will investigate the matter and submit the report within four days.
Anybody, who will be found guilty, will be taken to task, Minister asserted.
As reported, yesterday a woman hailing from tehsil Akhnoor visited SDH Akhnoor with severe labour pain yesterday.
The doctor (gynecologist) inspite of carrying out delivery in the hospital asked the family members to shift the lady to SMGS Hospital making excuse that the condition of the patient is in complex mode.
“No ambulance was provided to the lady for shifting to SMGS Hospital and she along with her family members boarded a private bus”, sources said, adding that as the lady suffered severe labour pain near Directorate of Health Services complex, a pharmacist namely Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, who was waiting for the bus heard the cries of the lady and reached the spot.
The pharmacist carried out the delivery in the bus as the condition of the lady was critical. The lady and her baby were later shifted to SMGS Hospital, where their condition was stated to be safe and secure.
The incident has raised a big question mark over the tall claims of the Health Department authorities about providing health care facilities to the people at their door steps.
