Committees formed for monitoring PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana

JAMMU, Sept 26: The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has established a Union Territory Level Coordination Committee and District Level Committees for overall monitoring and management of the “PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana” in the Union Territory.
As per the Government order, the UT Level Coordination Committee will be chaired by the Chief Secretary of J&K and will include key officials such as the Administrative Secretaries from the Power Development, Finance, Science & Technology, Industries & Commerce, and Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Departments.
The Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, Managing Directors of JPDCL and KPDCL, and Director Generals/Directors of Planning and Finance Wings of Power Development Department will also serve as members. The Chief Engineer of Distribution JPDCL/KPDCL will act as the member secretary for the committee.
At the district level, the committees will be headed by the Deputy Commissioners, who will serve as chairpersons. The members will include ex-officio CEOs of the District Development Council (Additional District Development Commissioner), Superintending Engineers from JPDCL/KPDCL (O&M Circle concerned), Chief Planning Officers, Lead District Managers, and two elected representatives from Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions (nominated by the DCs).
Three non-official members of these committees will be nominated by the Department of Science & Technology, while the Executive Engineer of the respective JPDCL/KPDCL division will function as the member secretary.
These committees are tasked with ensuring the smooth implementation and operation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aiming to improve electricity distribution across the UT of J&K.
