JAMMU, Nov 8: Former minister and senior leader of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Ajay Sadhotra has expressed serious concern over the total loss of harvested paddy crop lying in fields due to heavy rains in Jammu region.
In a press statement here today, NC leader said Kissans are already facing lot of miseries due to ever highest cost of farming and badly hit due to slow down of Agriculture economy. He said now it is acid test for the BJP Government to prove their concern for Kissans by declaring 100% loss and full compensation to Kissans.
If left to insurance companies under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Yojna, they will exploit, mislead and misguide the Kissans and shall make mockery and laughing stock of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Yojna, senior leader said.
He further added that Kissans never get insurance certificate by the Insurance companies. Farmers does not know for how much amount his crop has been insured and which is the company and does not know what will be the mode of compensation payment in case of damage to the crops.
Sadhotra appealed to the Government to declare 100% loss of paddy crop and Government should come to the rescue of the farming community and ensure that they get compensation for 100% damage to the harvested and standing crops. If farmers are not given compensation, they will face too much difficulties for making their both ends meet as they depend for their social needs on crops, moreover, it will be very difficult for the farmers to sow wheat crop, Sadhotra added.
