VIJAYPUR, Nov 12: Senior State Vice president of National Conference and former Minister, Surjeet Singh Slathia has said that holding wrestling competitions will go a long way in motivating youth to take up traditional sport and make a mark at various levels.
Declaring open wrestling competition in commemoration of the 65th Annual Day Celebration of Baba Santokhnathji Maharaj at Smailpur, Mr Slathia said that sports have immense potential as a career and therefore talented ones should concentrate on their chosen games with avowed objective of achieving excellence.
He exuded confidence that various tourneys, especially in the segment of wrestling, will provide an opportunity to the budding wrestlers to benefit from veterans and emulate various techniques, which will sharpen their talent. He complimented the participants and congratulated the winners for their excellent performance and hoped they will leave indelible mark at the national level as well.
On the occasion, Mr Slathia also extended Diwali greetings to the people and hoped that this day will usher the state to peace and progress.
The competition was watched by a large number of people, which included prominent citizens and a sizable number of youth.
