Complicated ENT surgery performed at District Hospital Pulwama

Srinagar, Aug 30: The District Hospital (DH) Pulwama has turned out to be actively carrying out head, neck tumor removal surgeries with the latest case being of a 55-year old lady.
The doctors said that the female reported to ENT OPD of District hospital Pulwama a few days back with swelling on the lateral aspect of the face in front of the earlobe.
“After clinical examination, FNAC was advised which revealed Warthins tumor parotid. Based on FNAC superficial parotidectomy was performed and the whole surgical procedure including the post-operative period remained uneventful,” the doctors said.
The procedure was done by Dr Irfan ul Shamas, Consultant ENT and his team which included Dr Shafi Bader senior anesthetist, Dr Mudasir Islam ENT specialist a with support from theatre staff which included OT technician Mr Adil along with Anaesthesia technicians Mr Khurshid and Mr Mohammad Shaban.
In this regard, the DHSK said that the ENT surgical procedures are now routine in DH Pulwama with Dr Irfan ul Shams leading the team who has a significant number of complicated surgical procedures including thyroidectomy to his credit.
The Directorate said that the whole team is fully supported by the Medical Superintendent of DH Pulwama Dr B S Tulla. Dr Rather Mushtaq Director of Health Services has appreciated the efforts of the ENT department at the said hospital.
