RAJOURI, Mar 29: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla has said that Congress Party was committed to improve basic amenities in hilly and remote areas of the State.
Continuing his vigorous campaign, former Minister and Congress candidate for Jammu- Poonch Parliamentary seat, Bhalla held series of election meetings at Taryath, Mogla, Tredu, parts of Khawas, Metka, Kalakote, Tatapani, Sailsui, Potha, Dalori, Sranu, Dangri, Narian, Chingus, Solki, Siot in Kalakote constituency and Budhal, Khawas, Samote, Kotranka, Rehan, Targain, Swari, Danna, Tralla, Charhan, Dhar Sakri, Peeri, Mandargalla in Darhal constituency and sought public support for Congress Party.
Addressing gatherings Bhalla said that Darhal constituency remained backward, under-developed due to the discriminatory policies of the previous BJP Govt. He said previous Government failed to redress grievances and sufferings of the people living in far flung areas and people of these areas were made to suffer for all basic services. He said the BJP Government was unaware of the problems and issues of the people in the rural area and did not take any steps to mitigate them during their tenure.
Bhalla said communication gap between citizens and the administration was biggest hurdle in the process of development and largely remained unaddressed. There is strong resentment against previous Govt for the attitude of total neglect of the area. The problems of the people from this Darhal constituency are also common like other parts of adjoining Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts. Majority of the people are poor and deprived of the basic amenities. Poor road network, lack of drinking water and power supply, poor health care facilities, shortage of doctors, severe shortage of ration, non-availability of teachers in schools are the issues being confronted by the hapless public.
Raman Bhalla strongly maintained that resentment against the BJP in Kalakote is on the rise in almost entire constituency of district Rajouri, as most of the core issues of the general public have remained same even after the passage of about four years. The general public said that there was no respite to them from the severe water and power crisis during last four years. Worst is the condition of road from Siot to Kalakote, while the pace of work on Taryath-Kalakote- Rajouri Road is very slow.
Senior leaders Iqbal Malik, Shabir Khan, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Sain Rashid, Masood Choudhary, Arshad Malik, Umar Mirza and others also accompanied.
