Cong condemns Pak for firing on villagers

JAMMU, Dec 3: PCC vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla and other members slammed Pakistan for frequent ceasefire violations in Poonch which resulted in killing of two civilians and injuring seven others on Tuesday   and demanded that a befitting response be given to the neighbouring country.
“The repeated incidents of cross border shelling from Pakistan in different areas of Rajouri and Poonch are a cause for grave concern,” They said in a joint statement here.
“The cross border shelling has intensified in the past couple of weeks,” they said and sought an effective and befitting response to Pakistan’s mischief and foiling of all attempts of infiltration from across the border.
The Congress leaders conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for peace to the departed souls. They prayed for early recovery of the injured.
The PCC leaders criticized NDA Government for failing to stop the ceasefire violations from across the border, and added that such activities by Pakistan have increased in pace since the new government took charge. Pakistan has been continuously involved in ceasefire violations, since this new Government came to force.
They demanded adequate compensation to the victims and specialised treatment for the injured . They also demanded that necessary measures be taken for the safety of the people living along the border.
The other signatories to the statement included, Tara Chand, Madan Lal, Mula Ram, R S Chib, Jugal Kishore, Ravinder Sharma, Shabir Khan, Manohar Lal, Manjit Singh and Yogesh Sawhney and Ch Gharu Ram.
