Cong expresses concern over growing threat of COVID-19

JAMMU, Mar 23: Jammu and Kashmir, Pradesh Congress Committee has expressed serious concern over the growing threat of spread of Coronavirus in the country and in Jammu and Kashmir and urged the Govt to further augment the infrastructure and upgrade necessary facilities on war footing to deal with the challenges of the situation.
While appealing the people to fully cooperate with the administration and local authorities by strictly following the guidelines and instructions from time to time, JKPCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma has asked for complete compliance of the lock down orders and necessary action where ever required.
The party has expressed concern over the reports of inadequacy of PPE for doctors, para-medics and other health workers besides the testing facilities and other such facilities and equipments needed in the situation and felt the need for upgrading the health facilities in Jammu and Kashmir on war footing to deal with the challenge.
He also appealed to the Centre Govt and UT administration besides local MPs to liberally fund for the up-gradation of required facilities to the health institutions including taking help of private health institutions. The private practioners and standard private labs be also involved in the process.
The party has also urged for the provision of shelter and other required facilities for the stranded people especially students at Lakhanpur and other locations who are not permitted to move back to their respective places of residence. These students have been either pushed back by respective institutions or left earlier but are stranded now at different places.
The party extended full cooperation to the administration in every genuine effort to deal with the situation and asked people to share the shortcomings and suggestions to facilitate the improvements by the administration.
