JAMMU, Nov 8: The Congress Party has intensified its poll campaign in Bishnah constituency to educate and apprise the villagers at grass root level to understand the value of their franchise and to cast their right to vote for selection of their representative who is able not only to attend them immediately but also work for the progress and prosperity of the Bishnah constituency.
In this connection, a public meeting was organized by the party at Kaccha Talab, Bishnah which was largely attended by the locals comprising women, youth and senior citizens of the area other than Congress workers.
Former Minister Gulchain Singh Charak and several others, including Mehar Singh, Sohan Singh, Sarpanch, Surjit Singh, D K Singh Advocate and Kanta Devi Sharma, addressed the meeting. They highlighted the problems faced by the villagers and pleaded common people to strengthen the hands of Congress so that their demands are addressed and development of area ensured.
Main issues, highlighted in the meeting, included maintenance of Sub district hospital, Bishnah, irregular supply of electricity and drinking water, parking place in the town, non availability of public convenience, building for the Government Degree College, Bishnah, qualified faculty for smooth functioning of the College, need for a Mini Stadium, fire fighting services in Bishnah, working of the Municipality etc.
In his address to the gathering, Gulchain Singh Charak enjoined upon the Congress workers to reach out to the people at grass root level to bring about the actual problems of the villagers so that these are attended immediately. He further emphasized that the Congress party is committed to work for the peace, prosperity and development of the Bishnah constituency. He also appealed the public to vote and support to the Congress Party in the ensuing Assembly Elections.
