Cong leader asks partymen to gear up for Panchayat, Municipal elections

SAMBA, Jan 10:  A meeting of Congress workers of district Samba was held at Gurha Morh Vijaypur under the leadership of senior Congress leader, Arun Kumar Sharma today.
Sharma asked the party cadres to get ready for contesting the forthcoming Panchayat as well as Municipal Committee elections which will be held in the month of February. He said that the BJP-PDP Coalition Government has weakened the Panchayati Raj System in the State. Sharma asked the workers to expose the failure of the Coalition Government.
He said that series of programmes should be organized on the booth level so that the message of party program could reach to the grass root level. He said that due to the weakening of Panchayati Raj System, the people are depriving off the basic rights and benefits of schemes. He said that coming Panchayat elections is the trailer of coming Parliament elections hence “we should have to try our best to emerge victorious in these elections. “We should leave no stone unturned to highlight the plight and problems of people of different sections and expose the Government’s hallow propaganda of development, he added.
The other issues regarding the scarcity of drinking water, unscheduled curtailment and damaged infrastructure of electricity as well as lanes and drains were also raised by the workers in the meeting. Sharma said “such issues could be solved when we elect our panches and sarpanches in the coming elections”.  Th. Bishamber Singh,  Ram Dass, Rajesh Kumar, Bodh Raj, S. Omkar Singh, Nazir Ahmed, Saleem Mohd., Samiter Singh, Gulshan Lal, Capt. Bodh Raj, Capt. Atter Chand, Capt. Baldev Raj, Capt (retd). Bholla Nath, and Parshotam Verma also spoken on the occasion.
